Subject: Claim declined on unauthorized transactions
My Name: Fenilkumar Patel
My City: Montreal, Canada/ Surat, India
My Complaint Against: Axis Bank
Complaint Category: Banks Complaints
Claim Amount (Approx.): 16595 or 333 CAD
My Complaint Description:
I was issued a travel currency card (canadian dollar) from axis bank on 21st August 2013 from its Ghoddod Road Surat Branch. It was loaded with 500 CAD. I used it for initial few months and that too only a amount around 100 CAD to 150 CAD. It still had balance of more than 350 CAD, but I stopped using it because I had another source of money till then. However, In 2015 I received a email from axis bank stating that I will be charged penalty if I dont use it in a mentioned duration. So I started using it again in May 2015. I made around 2-3 transactions which were approved. But then, It started declining since it had balance of only 0.99 CAD. Upon checking online, I found that there were too many unauthorized transactions on my card in year 2014, which I was unaware because I did not access my account. I reached axis bank as soon as I noticed it and blocked the card and made a Police Complaint. The total amount of these unauthorized transaction is around 333 CAD (16595 RS approximately).
I then sent all the information including Police complaint number to axis bank email ([email protected]) from where I got reply stating that my email is not a registered email ID with my account which is completely wrong, because I dont have another email ID and I was receiving updates about travel currency card on my email ID. On the other hand It was also mentioned that I cannot claim the amount because it was more than 30 days from transactions, but how can I claim it in 30 days of transactions if I did not noticed and access my account. I noticed this on 26-August-2015 and started all the procedures. But they had pulled their hands out saying they cannot give my amount back since it has been more than 30 days.
Right now I am in Montreal, Canada and my contact number is +1-514-443-6288 or my email id is [email protected]. If incase you cannot reach to my number, you can always reach my father in India at his number +91-98251-15612 who lives in Surat District.
