My Complaint Description:
I am writing to you in order to bring light to the issue of air ticket cancellation problem. My flight details were: Flight Name – Go Air, Journey From : Ahmedabad to Mumbai, PNR: PNJ6E0. Travel date : 14th June 2015. Due some urgent work I couldn't travel on this date and so wanted to cancel the ticket. I went to the online portal of makemytrip two weeks prior to my journey date in order to cancel the ticket. Even after several attempts the website did not cancel my ticket, so I tried calling their customer care service number that was provided by the website. After numerous attempts I couldn't talk to their customer care executive, every time I called the phone disconnected automatically. After that I tried calling the GoAir customer care number provided by the website but to no avail. The same thing was repeated over here. I couldn't talk to the customer care executive. I even sent them emails regarding the problem but the only message I got till date was that some customer care executive will call and talk to me regarding this matter. But no one called since then. I then went to the airport to cancel my ticket only to be informed that I will be charged a penalty of Rs. 1500 because I was late in cancelling my ticket. While booking the ticket at makemytrip no such thing as penalty charges will be applied if I cancel the ticket was written in their terms and condition. I was informed by the GoAir staff member at the airport that it is in their policy to apply penalty charge if the cancellation of the ticket is done before One week or One month. I had been calling the customer care executive but they just wouldn't come to terms with talking to the customer. What is the use of providing with a number that doesn't answer the queries of the customer. I am least interested in talking to the machine that answers the customer care call. If it is not specified in the terms and conditions of makemytrip about the penalty charges it is the duty of the airlines to check it. I would like you to look into the matter and bring justice to my problem.

    Greetings of the Day!!

    In reference to your complaint, we have validated your case with our concerned team/ Airline and found that cancellation penalty applicable on the booking was INR 1500.00 for the Go-Air sector as per airline fare rules. Please note that at the time of booking this reservation and also on the E-TICKET for Go-Air sector penalties quoted by MakeMyTrip is Rs.1499+ Rs.400. In your case, ticket was booked on a lower/promotional fare of INR 1590.00 , so as per the policy , no refund is applicable , even if this ticket was cancelled 1 month in advance.
