Subject: Claim Rejected
My Name: Yashovardhan Khemka
My City: Gurgaon
My State: Haryana
My Complaint Against: Religare Health Insurance Co Ltd
Complaint Category: Insurance Companies
Claim Amount (Approx.): 37000.00
My Complaint Description:
I had taken the Religare Health Insurance on 04.03.2017 and this was ported from National Insurance Co Ltd ( I have had health insurance from National continuously since last 13 years plus without any break). I had also provided 4 years National Insurance Policy details to Religare at the time of porting as this was a mandatory requirement for pre-disease. Hence, the policy was issued on 04.03.2017 and was ported successfully under the terms of coverage of pre-disease. I have been having Diabetes, Thyroid and BP since last 5-6 years ands was made to understand that as the policy was ported, all pre-existing diseases would be covered from day one.
I was admitted to Paras Hospital for Pancreatic and was in hospital for 3-4 days. The claim was rejected by Religare on grounds of pre-existing diseases which was not informed to them.
If the policy was ported and all pre-existing diseases informed, there was no reason to reject the claim. On calling the customer service, they only said claim rejected.
Anyways, I paid to Paras Hospital and once back on 11.03.2017 I asked Religare to cancel the policy and refund the premium paid. Although the policy was cancelled on 11.03.2017, Religare charged me approx. Rs. 2000 and then refunded the amount. There is a lookup period of 15 days from date of issue of Policy – that is 18.03.2017. Then why should the amount be deducted if the policy was cancelled during the lookup period.
