My Complaint Description:
I am being harassed by the SBI credit card payments department for paying an amount for which I have no liability to pay as there was a fraudulent transaction done on my SBI credit card on 31st January, 2018. The moment I got the SMS OTP I called up the help line number to inform them of the fraudulent transaction. However, I did not get any help from them they were not able to even stop the transaction from going through as the associate said that in case of international transaction no OTP is required which I found very strange. I was also asked to raise a complaint by writing a mail to the chargeback team for the fraudulent transaction amounting to Rs. 34,794.08 + some foreign currency Mark up DB of 1217.49 along with some form which i did on the same day. after a couple of days I got a mail from them informing me with some scripted response that I need to pay for this fraudulent transaction after which I called the customer care again and spoke to a lady in the charge back team and I got a similar reply that I have to pay. I kept paying some minimum amount for the last 3 months considering they would understand and remove the fraudulent charges from the account which they never did and have been harassing me for the last 10 days to pay. I have also explained to the payment team who been calling up for the payments of why I am not paying but they have a bank stipulated guidelines for making calls and they have been calling me ever since. I am in the field of learning and development and would need peace of mind to carry out my professional responsibilities with this calls there has been a considerable amount of stress and have also lost some professional contracts because of this. As per the RBI guideline Since I have informed the bank of the fraud immediately over the phone and also lodged a written complaint I have no liability.
